According to police investigation, JoeyAK had a large amount of cash, without any legal income in return. The amount he must repay is lower than the 815,000 euros that the Public Prosecution Service wanted to take from him in November 2022.

According to the investigative services, the rapper is deeply embedded in organized crime and is said to have amassed most of his wealth through drug trafficking, much of which through cocaine trafficking.

According to the court, the Public Prosecution Service’s calculation was ‘well substantiated and sufficiently plausible’ and JoeyAK’s defense was insufficient.

Cash income

The gangster rapper’s lawyer, Wouter de Zanger, argued that his client had a legal source of income by performing as an artist. JoeyAK is said to have been roped in for performances outside his booking agency. According to the defense’s calculations, H. would have earned 408,000 euros in cash income as a result.

The court did not agree to this, partly because the convicted person could not provide any accounting, agenda or registration of these performances.

The court also ruled that on the provided list of appearances by the defense, H. was already in detention. “Moreover, the convict himself stated that many of the booked performances ultimately did not take place because he had overslept,” the verdict said.

Criminal case

The confiscation claim followed the criminal case in which H. was sentenced to 3 years and 4 months in prison at the end of 2020 for kidnapping Naima N. from Amsterdam and her daughters (7 and 3 years old) on December 31, 2019.

A day later they were freed by an arrest team, after N. was doused with hot water by Joël H. out of sight of her daughters and hit on her head and knees with a gun.

JoeyAK was released in March 2022, but on September 3 of that year he was arrested again, along with eight other members of gangster rap formation Zone6. They were arrested for taking hostage and assaulting a man in Duivendrecht, who they also allegedly robbed of his Rolex and Louis Vuitton bag.

According to investigators, he was driven around in a van for hours, while his attackers demanded a large amount of money and threatened to cut off his fingers if none of his friends came forward. The man was led out of the van in Amsterdam-Zuidoost to a house in Holendrecht-West, but ran away in panic. He fell and was kicked and punched from all sides, after which the man reported the incident.

Seven years

All suspects in this case denied it. Nevertheless, the Public Prosecution Service demanded years of prison sentences. Seven years were demanded against JoeyAK. The verdict in that case will be announced in March.

Police, justice, South East district and the Regional Information and Expertise Center (Riec) previously started a joint offensive, with which they want to liberate the deprived neighborhood of Holendrecht from the yoke of the violent part of Zone 6, led by Joël H.
