Restoration work has begun on the stained glass windows of the Templo San José in Monterrey, Nuevo León, with the state government and Fidecultural reaffirming their commitment to preserving the region’s historical and artistic heritage. The project, valued at approximately one million pesos, is expected to take six months to complete.
A Collaborative Preservation Effort
The restoration is a collaborative effort between the Nuevo León State Government and Fidecultural, a trust dedicated to cultural heritage. According to Melissa Segura Guerrero, secretary of Culture of Nuevo León, the project is part of an annual public call for proposals from private organizations, citizens, and civil associations for restoration projects.The state provides funding, matching 85% of the total cost, while the applicant contributes the remaining 15%.
“Obviouslу, these must be restorations of high historical or artistic value that have a great impact on the community,” Segura Guerrero stated during the project’s launch.
Key figures present at the launch included Alejandro rodríguez Rodríguez, Undersecretary of Participation and Cultural Diversity of the secretariat of Culture of NL; Carmen Junco, Citizen Representative of the Trust for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage; Fernando vaquera, Rector of the Temple; and fernando Montaña, representative of Casa Montaña.
