Well, we have another old dig, courtesy of RTX Remix. We’re curious to see how ray tracing will fit into a cyberpunk old-school thriller and action RPG.

Do we still have to feature RTX Remix today? A software package from NVIDIA that allows you to stuff ray tracing wherever you want and literally make lines and magic with the game? No? I thought so. We have already written about a few games, such as Half-Life 2, Tomb Raider or NFS Underground 2. And now NVIDIA is tempting us with examples of ray tracing in the original Deus Ex from 2000 and in the RPG Dark Messiah of Might and Magic from 2006.

The former is now a legendary classic, a first-person action cyberpunk RPG that received several sequels thanks to its mammoth success, one of which, Mankind Divided, was recently released for free on Epic. If you missed it, big mistake. The second game with a ray tracing healing skin is Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. Yes, this is indeed the world of Might and Magic, in which the popular strategy “Heroes of” takes place, only converted into third-person action. The difference is that there is no need for strategy here, but you have to have strong muscles, nerves of steel, enough mana and a strong will. Otherwise, you won’t cut down those thousands of enemies.

Both games got a few years younger thanks to the RTX Remix, especially Dark Messiah as it’s six years newer. Hopefully we’ll also see that Half-Life 2 RTX and it won’t turn out like the third part.
