A 64-year-old man is in custody following a drive-by shooting at the ABC10 affiliate television station in Sacramento, California. Anibal Hernandezsantana was arrested Saturday and faces multiple felony charges, including shooting into an occupied building and assault with a deadly weapon. He was later released on $200,000 bail.

The shooting has drawn widespread condemnation from journalism organizations and advocates. The National Association of Black journalists (NABJ) Sacramento chapter called the incident “heartbreaking and unacceptable.”
“Violence against members of the media is violence against our entire community,” the NABJ chapter stated on social media. They emphasized the importance of supporting and protecting journalists who provide vital local news.

Hernandezsantana is scheduled to appear in court on tuesday, September 23rd, at 3 p.m. local time. It’s currently unclear if he has retained legal counsel.
