One person Russian tourist comparing the friendliness of Malaysians with Thailand. His post went viral, to the point where he was bullied.

Reporting from VN Express on Thursday (18/4/2024), the Russian tourist was named Max Petrovsckii. He just had a holiday from Malaysia and shared his experience on his TikTok account last weekend.

“It’s not that new, I just feel like that in general, this country is really nice and beautiful,” said Max praising Malaysia.

However, the next sentence offended Malaysians.

“One thing I think about, I don’t think about friendliness, but according to Malaysians they don’t smile often, like in Thailand. I’m used to that, I live in Thailand and I’m used to getting a lot of attention, maybe?” he added.

According to him, Malaysians are a little nervous. In fact, he suspected that there was something strange in the lives of Malaysians.

After being posted, the video immediately went viral and got the attention of Malaysian netizens. He was immediately targeted and accused of disrespecting their country.

“Smiling requires effort. When you smile, someone will definitely smile back,” wrote a netizen.

“He thinks he’s the main character in another country,” another chimed in.

“Look for your parents’ attention, not us, after all we have a lot of work to do,” said another.

According to a survey conducted by financial site Insider Monkey in 2024, Malaysia was ranked second in the five friendliest countries in Asia. Scoring 2.2, Malaysia was voted the 15th friendliest country in the world.
