Sebastian Korda is Grigor Dimitrov’s first opponent at the ATP 250 tournament in Marseille. The American overcame a difficult first round, prevailing over Hugo Grenier 6-3, 2-6, 7-6(3).

Korda is undoubtedly one of the best in the scheme among the unseeded. He is currently ranked 34th in the world. So far, he and Dimitrov have played once – in Washington in 2022, where Korda achieved a turnaround in three sets.

However, the Bulgarian and the American played this year as well, but from the same team, reaching the 1/4-finals of the doubles tournament in Brisbane. Their participation then ended in a withdrawal, as Korda dropped out early, while Dimitrov continued and subsequently lifted the title.

So far, Dimitrov has made three appearances in Marseille, and in the first two of them, in 2009 and 2011, he was eliminated in the first round after defeats by Gilles Simon and Dmitri Tursunov, respectively. Last year, the Bulgarian reached the quarterfinals after eliminating Heiss Brauer (6-3, 6-2), but then lost in a contested clash with Alexander Bublik (5-7, 6-3, 6-7).
