When Tord Pettersson walks around what used to be central Malmberget, many memories come back. But it is rare that he makes it here from Koskullskulle, where he has been living for several years.
– It doesn’t feel good to come here. There is nothing left and you miss the old Malmberget, he says and would rather spend time on his miniature Malmberget.
The social transformation in Malmberget
The model was launched ten years ago
It has been ten years since work on the large model began. A stage goal was an exhibition in Malmberget’s sports hall in the summer of 2016 when Tord Pettersson and his former colleague Jan Åkerlund could show how far they had come so far.
The model spread over large parts of the floor in the A-hall and showed the buildings in central Malmberget as they looked 100 years ago, and by turning the tiles, a newer building could be brought out.

The project stopped for several years after that, but since the beginning of this year Gällivare municipality has been able to finance a continuation.
