The biggest winners of the Edison Pop 2024 are Sef and Son Mieux. They won the awards in the best album categories respectively (I Could Die For Much But Not For A Flag) a best song (Tonight).
A total of eleven awards were distributed in the AFAS Theater in Leusden.
Also MEAU (Dutch), Reinier Zonneveld (dance), FLEMMING (pop), Mula B. (hip-hop), Idaly (soul/r&b/funk), Pip Blom (alternative), Marco Schuitmaker (Dutch) and Roxy Dekker (newcomer) won prizes. The last two broke through last year. The band Within Temptation won another Edison (rock) after nineteen years.
Last week it was announced that this year’s Edison Pop Oeuvre Prize had gone to Jan Smit. “A unique artist who has been making music with great success for thirty years before the age of forty,” said the jury.
The Edison, also known as the Dutch Grammy, is one of the most prestigious music prizes in the Netherlands and has been awarded since 1960. As every year, the award consists of a bronze statue by sculptor Pieter d’Hont.
In addition to chairman Daniël Dekker (NPO Radio 5/MAX), the professional jury consisted of Eric van Holland (Spotify), Vera Siemons (3FM), Martijn Biemans (Qmusic), Anna Veenstra (Melkweg), Nils Brokerhof (100% NL/SLAM!) and Randall Spann (FunX).
