Several employees of the Town Hall in Târgu Jiu suspended themselves from their positions or took leave. All this after the mayor announced that he will do tests to find those who come to the office drunk or who drink during work hours.

The city hall has more than 600 employees and any of them can be tested if there is a suspicion that they have consumed alcohol.
The alcohol test will also reach other institutions. He is now with the Local Police.

Florin Băluță, director of the Local Police: “Since 2022, we have received it from the Târgu Jiu City Hall and we have it in custody.”

Marcel Romanescu, mayor: “We will never use this device on all employees, but if we have certain suspicions from that moment we know exactly, through the established regulation, who are the people who can use this device, which is also approved. We have had this device since 2019, and at that time those who were aware of this vice and the fact that they came or could arrive at work under the influence of alcoholic beverages preferred to suspend themselves from their positions.”
People say that the testing is welcome and that this way the state employees will be more disciplined.
