16,855 Flemish families and SMEs have been waiting for their energy bill for weeks, months, or sometimes even more than half a year. This is evident from figures that VTM requested from the Flemish energy regulator VREG. The cause appears to be an IT problem with the Atrias data system.
“If you are constantly blocked in the system, then you are actually experiencing inconvenience at the moment. We have to admit that. This concerns the failure to receive your invoice,” Björn Verdoodt, spokesperson for Fluvius, said on VTM.
“But it may also be more difficult to change suppliers. And the administration can also be a little later when moving.”
Pay thousands of euros?
“We are still allowed to use electricity. They are so ‘nice’ not to cut us off,” victim Sandrine, who has not received a bill since November, told the commercial channel. “But for the rest we have to wait, nothing can be done. But soon we may have to pay 3,000 or 4,000 euros in one go.”
