Kochi: Aluva Manappuram is gearing up for Shivaratri celebrations. On the occasion of Shivratri, Pithrakrams will begin at midnight today at Mahadev Kshetra. Devotees will start arriving at the temple by noon. By evening, Manappuram will be filled with people. A wide range of facilities are provided for the devotees to reach the temple. KSRTC, Kochi Metro and Railways will run special services today and tomorrow. Today evening Nilambur – Kottayam Express 16325 will stop at Mullurkara, Ollur, Nellai and Koratti in addition to regular stops. Shornoor – Thrissur Express (06461) will run special service till Aluva. The train leaves Thrissur at 11:15 pm and stops at every station and reaches Aluva at 12:45 midnight.

Thrissur – Kannur (16609) Express will leave Aluva at 5:15 am tomorrow and will reach Thrissur at 6:45 am and run regular service to Kannur. There will be stops at all stations from Aluva to Shornur.

KSRTC is running additional services from various units to reach the devotees to Aluva. KSRTC has prepared 210 special services. These services are from Aluva, North Paravur, Mala, Pudukkad, Perumbavoor, Thrissur, Kodungallur, Chalakudy, Iringalakuda and Angamaly depots.
Buses bound for Thrissur will operate from Manappuram stand, for Perumbavoor and Muvattupuzha from Gandhi Square stop and for Cherthala from municipal bus stand. A station master’s office is also functioning temporarily at Manappuram.

Kochi Metro has prepared additional services tonight and tomorrow morning. There will be metro service from Tripunithura to Aluva till 11:30 tonight. After 10:30 PM, the service will be at 30 minute intervals. Metro service will start at 4:30 am on Saturday. Train service will be available from 4:30 AM to 6 AM at 30 minute intervals.
