NASA media activities

Longueuil (Quebec), May 2, 2024 — As the launch of the manned test flight of the Starliner to the International Space Station scheduled for May 6 at 10:34 p.m. (ET), NASA announces several activities intended for the media.

Two astronauts from the Canadian Space Agency will participate in activities surrounding the launch. Joshua Kutryk will be theCapcom Liaison Agent of the manned test flight, from the Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. Jeremy Hansen, Canadian astronaut assigned to the mission Artemis IIwill be at the Kennedy Space Center to participate in some pre-launch activities.

Canadian media will be able to participate virtually in the following NASA activities:

  • Pre-launch press conference: May 3 at 12:30 p.m. ET
  • Panel of social media experts and NASA specialists: May 3 at 3:30 p.m. ET
  • Live coverage of the launch: May 6 from 6:30 p.m. (ET)
  • Post-launch press conference: May 7 at midnight (ET)
  • Press conference following docking at the Station: May 8 at 4:15 a.m. (ET)

Starliner manned test flight

Intended to test the capabilities of the Starliner spacecraft, this important flight precedes the mission Starliner-1 to the International Space Station, which will include the Canadian Space Agency astronaut Joshua Kutryk (early 2025 at the earliest). This first space mission for Joshua Kutryk will make him the fourth CSA astronaut to make a long-term stay at the Station.
