Nick Sloane, a veteran marine engineer with extensive experience in complex salvage operations - notably the Costa Concordia wreck recovery – believes there is a chance passengers may still be alive. He explained that the initial 24 hours are crucial for locating individuals who may have found refuge in air pockets within the submerged yacht. “They’ve got a very small window of time to try to find people stuck inside with hopefully an air pocket, and they could be rescued,” Sloane stated, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.
