SWIMMING – MADAGASCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Koty Sampaniana Glorio improved a better performance in 200mNL yesterday.

One and only best performance was recorded, during the first day of the Madagascar championship on the 50m long course. The kick-off of the national summit which will last until Saturday, at the swimming pool of the National Sports Academy in Ampefiloha. Koty Sampaniana Glorio Precious, aged 11, is the author of the only best performance (MP) achieved yesterday.

The young swimmer from the East Coast Swimming Club (CNCE) improved the old MP in 200m freestyle chick category between 10 and 11 years old, of 2:33:15 against the old one of 2:36:40 performed by Baritiana Andriampenomanana from Club Managing, March 28, 2018.

“This is my second best performance after that in 20m medley, achieved in 2022,” confides Koty Sampaniana Glorio. This Tamatavian swimmer shone after five years of swimming.

A little cold

He won six national titles in his category in 2022, namely in 200m medley, 50m backstroke, 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, 50m freestyle and 100m freestyle. He repeated the same feat in 2023, signing six titles in 200m medley, 100m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 200m medley.

The water temperature today was 23°C, while the required temperature is 26°C. “The change in climate in recent days, that is to say the cold, has somewhat disrupted the swimmers and prevented them from doing better,” notes the national technical director, Vony Andriamanantena.

The water has been warmed. The national long course game will continue until Saturday in Ampefiloha. The qualifiers will take place every morning and the final phase in the afternoon. This national summit brought together three hundred and eleven swimmers, from the seven leagues, namely Analamanga, Vakinankaratra, Boeny, Atsinanana, Haute-Matsiatra, Vatovavy, Fitovinany and Alaotra-Mangoro.
