The Real Madrid coach, Carlo Ancelotti, has been accused by the Madrid Provincial Prosecutor’s Office and accuses him of having defrauded the Treasury during the fiscal year of 2014 and 2015 and they are asking for the merengue coach a prison sentence of 4 years and 9 months in prison.

The coach is accused two crimes against the Public Treasury, despite the fact that the Italian reaffirmed his status as a resident in Spain for tax purposes. Everything indicates that the Italian leader was hiding the return on the exploitation of his image rights that he had transferred to other entities.

According to the complaint, the current boss of the meringues had signed an employment contract from July 4, 2013 to June 30, 2016, establishing his habitual residence in a central square in Madrid. However, the coach did not complete his entire stay in that period, since he stopped being the team’s head coach on May 25, 2015, in his first cycle. After that, Ancelotti had his living ‘leased’ until October being “your main center of personal relationships and economic interests”, according to the accusation.

The request for a sentence by the Prosecutor’s Office is for “avoid taxation on the income from said image rights.” The strategist had “simulated” the transfer of his image rights due to lack of activity and exploitation capacity that were domiciled outside of Spain, causing the concealment of the real benefits of the returns by the Spanish Public Treasury.

The tax authorities figure a number of 1,249,590 euros in 2014 and 2,959,768 in 2015 for said transfer of image rights, without the coach or others having paid taxes on those figures. The technical director faces this demand just hours before the return match for the Round of 16 between Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.
