Alpine Skiing: Odermatt and Meillard Claim Medals
The menS giant slalom saw a thrilling competition with Swiss skiers taking two of the three podium spots. Marco Odermatt secured a silver medal, narrowly beaten by Brazil’s Lucas Pinheiro Braathen, while Loïc Meillard claimed the bronze according to RTS Sport. Curling: Mixed Results for Swiss Teams
The Swiss women’s curling team faced a setback on Valentine’s Day, losing their first match of the tournament 7-5 against Japan as reported by RTS. However, they quickly rebounded with a 7-6 victory over Canada in a closely contested match that went to an extra end .
The Swiss men’s curling team continues to dominate, maintaining a perfect 4-0 record with a decisive 9-5 win against Canada. Yannick Schwaller and his team are now considered strong contenders for the gold medal .
Cross-Country Skiing: Swiss Women Finish 7th in Relay
The swiss women’s 4×7.5km relay team finished in 7th place, falling short of a podium finish. The Norwegian team took gold, followed by Sweden and Finland. Challenges during the race, particularly with the performances of Marina Kälin and Nadine Fähndrich, contributed to the result .
Biathlon: Meier Leads Swiss Performance in sprint
Lea Meier delivered a strong performance in the women’s 7.5km sprint, finishing 13th with a flawless shooting record. Though, she conceded a 1 minute and 16.5 second gap to the gold medalist, Norway’s Maren Kirkeeide.Amy Baserga finished 29th, while Aita Gasparin and Lena Häcki-Gross placed 55th and 60th respectively.
Ski Jumping: Deschwanden Finishes 13th
Gregor Deschwanden achieved a commendable 13th-place finish in the men’s large hill competition, jumping 129.5 and 131 meters. Sandro Hauswirth secured a spot alongside Deschwanden for the team event,while Felix Trunz will not participate .
Freestyle Skiing: Gremaud and Andraska qualify for Big Air Final
Mathilde Gremaud qualified for the Big Air final in 3rd place, showcasing a strong performance during the qualification round. Anouk Andraska also advanced to the final, securing 12th place. Giulia Tanno finished 13th and did not qualify, while Sarah Höfflin unluckily fell during both of her runs.
