Miami (USA), March 1 (EFE).- The Argentine Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino, coach of Inter Miami, assured this Friday that there is still too much time to talk about the option of seeing Leo Messi in the Olympic Games , but he did report that he has been “discussing some issues with him” regarding his commitments to the Albiceleste.

“I don’t want to venture into something for which there is still too much time left (sic). Of course I have been discussing some issues with him. What is most worrying today is the day to day, how he is recovering from each game,” he said. Martino at a press conference organized at the Inter Miami sports center before the MLS match against Orlando.

The Argentine coach focused his analysis on the present and on Messi’s physical condition and the drain on energy he has had in recent days.

“We have turned to him in every game and that has caused him too much wear and tear. We have to help the team find him to make plays and finish plays. I feel that in these two games he has had too much wear and tear,” said.

For the league duel with Orlando this Saturday, Martino reported that he does not plan to make rotations due to energy management despite the fact that on Wednesday his team debuts in the round of 16 of the CONCACAF Champions League against Nashville.

“There may be some change, but not necessarily the result of any rotation. We have only played two games in the league. In the week that begins we are going to play games during the week and that is the time to see that,” he stated.

“We decided to face all the competitions with the best we have. If it had been in two or three weeks, now we would be talking about a team not with the usual starters. In this case this is just beginning and the game with Orlando is very important and it is Conca Champions is very important,” he added.

The clash with Orlando is promoted in the United States as Florida’s ‘Clásico’, although Martino stressed that it still has a lot of history left so that it can be compared to the duels of great tradition in European or South American football.

“In this case what is missing is history, that is what is missing. But this happens throughout the MLS. The MLS is a young tournament. Still nothing comparable to Rosario,” he said.
