The incident happened in the western Iranian city of Aligudarz on March 22. A 52-year-old man searched through the bins of one of the streets in a row. “In one of the bins I found a bag full of gold objects and dollars” – reported the Iranian daily Etimad in its Monday edition based on the report of the finder.
The contents of the bag later turned out to be worth a small fortune, about 20 billion Iranian rials (about HUF 13.6 million).
“I kept the treasure with me for a few days, but I wasn’t able to keep it permanently, because my parents taught me that if we find another person’s property, it is appropriate to return it to him”

The bank card, which was also found in the bag, was of great help in locating the owner. The owner was later revealed to be a woman, also in her fifties, whose granddaughter threw her bag in the trash after thinking it contained only trash.
