This tip has been circulating on Tesla user forums and online communities for a few years now, but with the start of the summer it has gained attention again. Which tells me it’s not fake. Because the old Supercharger V2 charging panel does not have a cooling cable. which when the summer sunlight reaches the handle (For plugging the charger into the car) has a higher temperature. Until the sensor sends a signal telling the charger to reduce the charging speed to maintain the temperature at a safe level. Therefore, when a damp cloth is placed on the handle It will help block the sunlight and reduce the temperature. and results in a higher charging rate or faster charging.
One Tesla owner revealed that he used this technique on a hot day with his Supercharger V2, which increased the charging rate from 60 kilowatts to 95 kilowatts. Many other owners also joined the Out of Spec Studios online community. Got good results like this as well.

This trick does not apply to the new Supercharger V3 charging panel, which charges most Tesla electric vehicles.
