Téte António and her Mozambican counterpart call on businesspeople to boost trade –

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, participated yesterday, the 23rd, in Maputo, in the tenth session of the Angola/Mozambique Mixed Cooperation Commission, with the agenda being bilateral issues within the framework of Economy, Finance, Trade, Energy, Mineral Resources, Oil, Public Works, Environment, Agriculture and others.

During the meeting chaired by Téte António and his Mozambican counterpart Verónica Nataniel Macamo Dhlovo, the two delegations x-rayed compliance with existing agreements, the current situation of the bilateral relationship, identified new paths for improving the relationship, and concluded there is a need for businesspeople from both countries to carry out prospecting that will allow them to intensify the still timid trade exchange.

Currently, trade between Angola and Mozambique does not exceed US$10.4 million, a figure that falls short of the expectations of the two partners.

At the meeting, Téte António and Verónica Nataniel Macamo Dhlovo also expressed their interest in “strengthening ambitious and fruitful cooperation”, particularly in the fields of Defense, Agriculture, Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Transport and Communications, Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Sea and Marine Resources, Health and Tourism, and strengthening Institutional Capacity. And they signed the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Angola and the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Mozambique, in the field of Health.
