Today, March 25, Latvian musician, poet and member of the band “bet bet” Guntars Račs celebrates his 59th birthday.

Račs studied percussion instruments at the Emīlas Melngailis Liepaja Music High School. During his life, he worked in several Latvian music groups – “Neptūns”, “Salve”, “Dzelzs Ceļš”, “Jāņa Lūsēna Group”, “Slēģi”, “Jauns Mēness”. Currently, Rach plays in the band “bet bet”.

However, his musical activity is not limited to making music in groups – as the author of lyrics, Račs has collaborated with countless music authors in Latvia, including Raimonda Paula, Jānis Lūsēna, Uldi Marhilēviča, Imanta Kalniņa, Mārtiņa Braun and others. He has also won several Record of the Year awards as a writer and performer.

Račs was also the author of the lyrics for the only song in Latvian that was ever sent to the international Eurovision Song Contest – “Song for Happiness” performed by the Latvian duo “Fomins & Kleins”.

He also founded and currently holds leading positions in the music recording companies “Mikrofona išaridi” and “Izdevniecība MicRec”.

We sincerely congratulate Guntar Raču on the holiday!
