U.S. Ambassador to Moscow Lynne Tracy was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday, where she was informed that three American non-governmental organizations had been classified as undesirable and was handed a list demanding that she stop funding them.

According to the Ministry of Russian Diplomacy, the three banned organizations are the American Councils for International Education, Cultural Perspectives and the Institute of International Education. According to the information, they “conduct anti-Russian programs and projects with the support of the American embassy, the purpose of which is to recruit ‘agents of influence’ under the guise of educational and cultural exchange programs”.

The ambassador was called on by the list to stop supporting the activities of the organizations mentioned, which, if continued, would constitute a violation of Russian law, according to the State Department. Part of the Russian demand is to remove from the official website of the American diplomatic mission and social networks the list of educational projects and programs of these organizations, “which aim to promote attitudes and values alien to Russian society.”

The warning specifically emphasized that “attempts to interfere in Russia’s internal affairs, including subversive actions and the dissemination of disinformation in connection with the elections and the special operation, will be strictly and decisively suppressed, up to the persona non grata of American embassy personnel involved in such actions.” status until expulsion”.

Earlier, Russian foreign affairs spokeswoman Marija Zakharova called on the US ambassador to stop “lying” and keeping quiet that Washington’s attempts to “develop humanitarian relations with the Russian people” are actually aimed at subverting Russia.
