So that there is not enough speculation about the start of the new week, we are adding another one. It comes from a credible source — namely insider Tom Henderson — and it’s about his royal discipline. Of course, we are talking about Call of Duty, specifically this year’s speculated Call of Duty: Black Ops Gulf War, which should have a uniquely crafted campaign, according to Henderson’s sources. The developers from the Raven studio, who are to work on it, are said to want to use the open world concept, thanks to which the story part of the new Call of Duty could resemble, for example, Far Cry.

In his article, Henderson relies on information from people who anonymously gave him insight into the situation not only in the mentioned Raven studio, but also in Treyarch, which is supposed to work on the rest of the game, namely multiplayer and the zombie mode. As for the campaign, it’s not exactly the first attempt to handle it differently – Modern Warfare 3 already gave players a little more freedom through Open World Missions. In the case of Gulf War, however, it is supposed to be a completely new concept in which players will operate on a single map, use means of transport or fast travel to move and complete individual missions. Henderson has no idea how many of them there will be and how linearly they will be processed, but he adds that it should be a more extensive change in the approach to the game as such, which should also be reflected in the next sequel.

So far, Henderson and speculation in general are talking about it only as a Saturn project, which should arrive at the usual time next year. According to Henderson, however, the project does not yet have an assigned lead developer and currently exists only in the concept phase. After all, it’s roughly 20 months away from release, so as expected, it’s not possible to be more specific just yet. In the case of Gulf War, however, we could wait as early as October this year and enjoy the sixth installment in the Black Ops miniseries. So we’ll see how accurate Henderson was, but given his earlier reports, it’s reasonable to expect these rumors to turn into reality as well.
