Although Sony’s first official translation said that the studios had to improve “when it comes to business,” this phrase was actually only for Bungie

With the publication of its financial results for the last quarter, PlayStation has given a lot of information about the current state of its business. However, this document also gave rise to talks about the future about the company and its studies; at which time Hiroki Totoki, now president of Sony Interactive Entertainment after the departure of Jim Ryan, commented that the internal studios had room for improvement “when it comes to business.” Now, with a new update from the Japanese team, we know that this phrase was not directed at all the developers of the conglomerate, but to Bungie specifically.

And what is the reason for this confusion? When Totoki discussed his first impressions of the PlayStation business to investors in a question session, Sony published an official English translation that said nothing about Bungie in particular, but rather extended the notice to all gaming studios. However, and as pointed out by VGC, the Japanese team has now published another official translation that puts Bungie at the center of the problem. In fact, the company explains that this update “is intended to replace the simultaneous translation of the previously published question session.”

In this sense, and according to the information now provided with the new Sony translation, Totoki comments on some impressions focused solely on what he saw during his meetings with Bungie. All this, clearly, with words similar to those we transcribed a few days ago: “I visited the Bungie offices and had meetings with the management team,” the manager actually explains. “And I saw that the people who work in the studios have a very high motivationthey have great creative minds and Impressive Live Service Insights“.

“However, I also felt that there was room for improvement from a business perspective in regards to areas such as gastos de negocio y take responsibility for development times“Totoki continued. “I hope to continue the dialogue and come up with some good solutions.”

Bungie employees talk about a bad work environment after recent layoffs

And Bungie has had some pretty bad months. In addition to delaying The Final Form, Destiny 2’s next expansion, the team has experienced a wave of layoffs followed by a terrible office environment. In fact, and even though the developer still acts quite independently, there is a possibility that Sony will keep the entire company if things get worse.
