It would have been part of a busy railway line: now it’s finished, but it leads to nowhere. This is how they celebrate online.

The Fresno River Viaduct in the US state of California would have been an important element of a railway line between San Francisco and Los Angeles. In any case, the California High Speed Rail Authority celebrated itself and the completion of the nearly 500-meter-long bridge on the X as if they had won a world championship. If we take a closer look at the work, it is probably not a big risk to say: the champagne corks popped out too early.

A bridge to nowhere

The megaproject, which aims to connect major Californian metropolises by rail, has been going on for years. Now they are criticizing the American state because apparently they are not really progressing, and at the same time they are celebrating themselves. As reported by the New York Post, eleven billion dollars, i.e. nearly HUF 4 trillion, were taken from taxpayers for the construction of the Fresno River Viaduct. However, after nine years of construction, the bridge leads to nowhere.

Commentators are dying

Of course, people are not left cold by the announcement of the news, including the boss of Tesla, Elon Musk. He tweeted the jubilant post of the authority along with a crying emoji. But many are outraged that so much money was wasted on this. For the time being, it is still questionable whether trains will ever run on this bridge, since according to press reports, it is still up in the air that the project will be suspended.
