BRATISLAVA – Many mushroom pickers are celebrating morel catches, but this year spring is more generous and quite unexpected mushrooms have popped up after the morels, even for this time of year. Mushroom pickers are not used to finding boletus mushrooms in the forests at this time, and certainly not boletus mushrooms.

Despite this, persistent mushroom pickers manage to find such mushrooms in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. The rains, but especially the higher spring temperatures woke up nature earlier that year, and after the ground frosts have passed, it seems that mushroom pickers have a chance to find rare catches in the forests, according to information from the nahuby.sk portal. Mycologists, however, warn that if higher temperatures continue and it does not rain more intensively, the mushrooming season, which is starting early, will also quickly end.

During the weekend, the mushroom pickers boasted about their catches of boletus, porcini mushrooms, even pine mushrooms, as well as chickens and cheese mushrooms. Mushrooms were mainly found in central Slovakia. At the same time, the traditional Mayfish, which usually dominate the catch at this time, started to grow already in March. Now it looks like they are trying again. These mushrooms were found by mushroom pickers in the vicinity of Prievidza, or to the east in the vicinity of Košice. However, several mushroom pickers said that it is starting to get dry in the forests and that a lot of rain would really help.
