Outfit7 has launched an in-game crossover that brings the Smurfs into the mobile sandbox game “Talking Tom & Friends: World,” according to reports by Variety. Developed as a dedicated experience within the children’s title, the collaboration connects the global entertainment franchise “Talking Tom & Friends” with the classic cartoon characters owned by Peyo Company, introducing themed scenes, activities, and familiar faces to players worldwide.
The partnership integrates iconic elements from the classic 1980s “Smurfs” cartoon into Outfit7’s digital ecosystem. Players can explore a Smurfs-themed environment, interact with recognizable characters including Papa Smurf and Smurfette, and unlock specialized outfits and accessories inspired by the blue residents’ village, as detailed by The Smurfs official site. Because “Talking Tom & Friends: World” stands as Outfit7’s first mobile title designed specifically for kids, the sandbox environment provides a natural home for imaginative play and self-expression.
“Many of us grew up with the Smurfs, which is part of what makes this collaboration so special,” said Tadeja Irmančnik, head of brand partnerships at Ekipa2, a subsidiary of Outfit7, in remarks reported by Variety. Irmančnik noted that the Smurfs remain one of the rare entertainment properties capable of connecting with multiple generations without losing their core identity.
Expanding the Franchise Through Cross-Brand Partnerships
The latest crossover represents an ongoing strategy of external collaborations for the “Talking Tom & Friends” ecosystem. The franchise has previously partnered with major global brands, launching similar in-game crossover projects with Barbie and “Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir,” according to Variety. By pairing its established roster of digital characters with heritage animation properties, Outfit7 continues to expand the ways younger audiences interact with sandbox gaming.
Fabienne Gilles, licensing chief at Peyo Company, highlighted the appeal of the cross-platform venture for families. “I’m sure kids and parents alike will love discovering this fun new collaboration and playing together with the Smurfs, Talking Tom, and his friends,” Gilles stated, as covered by Variety.
