Airports are places where stress levels can be high. A study by the website StressFreeCarRental.com identified the most stressful airports in Europe.
Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris was considered the most stressful airport for tourists to fly into, with more than 57 million passengers a year passing through.
London Heathrow appears as the second most stressful airport, with the worst record of delays of any of the busiest airports in Europe.
Third most is London Gatwick Airport – at 45.7 km, it is the furthest from the nearest city, which means passengers often arrive tired before even checking in.
Ranked as the fifth most stressful, Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport handles more than 52 million passengers annually – it still scores 2.1 for departure delays and expensive parking fees at more than 110 euros per week.
Despite slow Wi-Fi, Munich ranks sixth but has the second lowest score for plane departure delays (1.7), and serves 31 million passengers in the airport’s 65 restaurants.
Frankfurt Airport in Germany ranks seventh as it is the most expensive to park for a week (234 euros) – a big difference from the cheapest location at Leonardo Da Vinci-Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Italy. (which occupies fourth place in the ranking), costing just 20 euros for seven days.
Frankfurt is also the closest airport to the city center, just 13.3 km away, followed by Barcelona at 13.7 km and Istanbul at 17.2 km.
Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport in Spain was ranked as the least stressful airport on the list, with some of the lowest passenger traffic, cheap parking, few departure delays, as well as being close to the city center (Barcelona ).
