It has an almost hypnotic effect, the special Nike jacket that French rapper Takiola wears in Paris. It contains no less than 3875 micro LEDs that light up the jacket in circular patterns. Even the Eiffel Tower is a little less noticeable, even though it also knows its magic when it comes to lighting effects.

The jacket was made by Nike, but the sports brand did not have those micro LEDs on it. Designer Clara Daguin is responsible for this. It must have been quite a job for Clara and her team to attach all those micro LEDs to the Nike jacket, but also to set them up properly. They seem to be joining in with rapper Takiola and that is not because the lights are specially programmed to his music: these lights respond to sound.

In the video for the song X, which was filmed in Paris, Takiola wore the artistic garment. It almost looks like fireworks, the lighting is so bright. We know micro LEDs from televisions, among other things, because thanks to micro LED it is possible to achieve great brightness and at the same time make a screen black. Micro LEDs are actually very small, bright lights and that is clearly reflected on the jacket.

For example, she previously made bomber jackets that could respond to the person looking at them thanks to motion sensors. When motion was detected, the garments faded from a light blue color to a red-orange hue.

Now a fireworks-like custom made Nike jacket with micro LEDs and the ability to respond to the music. This jacket is reminiscent of the glitzy light jacket with which David Hasselhoff once sang on the Berlin Wall, but with a technically advanced design.
