Togo Leads West Africa in business Climate, improves Ranking

Togo continues to be the leading country in West Africa for its business climate and has risen to 4th place in Africa for the most improved business habitat, according to the recently published Business Ready (B-Ready) 2025 report by the World Bank (BM). The country achieved an overall score of 61.52 points.

Confirmation of Positive Trend

This performance builds on the positive momentum observed in the first edition of the B-Ready report in 2024, where Togo also held the top regional position, as highlighted by local media reports.

Key Strengths in Business Environment

The evaluation, based on surveys of businesses operating in Togo and insights from economic experts, reveals strong performance in key areas.Notably, Togo excels in ease of starting a business, achieving a score of 85.77 points. This indicates a streamlined and efficient process for entrepreneurs looking to establish operations in the country.

Regulatory Framework and operational Efficiency

The country’s regulatory framework also received a commendable score of 66.26 points, demonstrating progress in economic governance. Operational efficiency scored 57.38 points, suggesting areas for improvement, particularly in reducing the time and cost of administrative compliance.

The Business Ready (B-Ready) Index

These results are based on the new Business Ready mechanism, which replaces the former “Doing Business” instrument. The B-Ready index assessed 101 countries across ten key areas grouped into three strategic pillars: the regulatory framework, the quality of public services, and operational efficiency.
