The requirements expand and change, and the authentication test also evolves.

VESA still in 2017 tried to cut order between HDR displaysand it actually succeeded, then DisplayHDR 1.1 arrived in 2019, which supplemented the standard, and now version 1.2 is on the table. It is important to note that the classification of monitors that have already been released and certified will not change, and in fact, VESA will certify devices according to specifications 1.1 until May 2025 for monitors, and until May 2026 for notebooks. This is necessary because manufacturers cannot suddenly adapt to the new requirements, because they have quasi-ready developments, that is, they are given some grace period for the transition, but then everyone must comply with what is described in standard 1.2.
