According to the Institute of Military Studies (ISW), the Russian army captured new territories around the towns of Bakhmut, Avdijivka and Marjinka and continued positional skirmishes across the front. The head of the military administration of the city of Avdijivka, Vitalijus Barabaš, says that there are clashes with separate diversionary intelligence groups in the city.

“Russian soldiers entrenched themselves in a street on the northern edge of Avdijivka. Measured in a straight line, the forward units of the enemy are about one and a half kilometers from the entrance to the city. Two weeks ago, the enemy managed to enter two streets on the southern outskirts of the city. The situation is critical,” J. Batusovas wrote on the social network Facebook.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed his intention to reshuffle Ukraine’s political and military leadership. After the reports about the possible dismissal of the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian army Valery Zaluzhno, V. Zelenskyi told the Italian public broadcaster “Rai” on Sunday evening that “reorganization, a new beginning is really necessary.”

That means “a lot of leading statesmen need to be replaced, and not just in one area, say the military,” he said.
