Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry brought their explosive collaborative single ‘Hive Mind’ to the stage for the first time during a surprise pop-up show at Substance Skatepark in Brooklyn. The unannounced performance on Tuesday night drew a packed crowd of hardcore and hip-hop fans, turning the venue into a frenzied scene of moshing and crowd-surfing as frontman Bryan Garris and Curry traded intense energy.
The Kentucky metalcore heavyweights and the Florida rap artist released ‘Hive Mind’ in February, marrying blistering guitar-driven aggression with rapid-fire trap delivery. The Brooklyn performance marked the live debut of the track ahead of their upcoming co-headlining North American tour.
During the set, Curry stepped up to deliver his verse alongside Garris while local New York hardcore act Combust also supported the bill. The surprise gig was announced just one day in advance, pulling a massive local turnout to the intimate skatepark setting.
From Louisville Skateparks to Brooklyn Pop-Ups
The official music video for ‘Hive Mind’ was filmed at David Armstrong Extreme Park in Louisville, Kentucky, featuring direction by Eric Richter.
Speaking about the track’s origins after its release, Garris noted that the band had discussed working with Curry for quite some time. He explained that they believed the project required a specific artistic vision to succeed, insisting that Curry was the only person who truly understood the cross-genre ambition of the band’s sound.
‘Hive Mind’ represents the first new material from Knocked Loose since their 2024 album ‘You Won’t Go Before You’re Supposed To’, a critically acclaimed record that featured the Grammy-nominated collaboration ‘Suffocate’ with Poppy. Garris has shared that the intense positive reaction to their heavier sonic experiments has only driven the group to push their limits further.
Upcoming Co-Headlining Tour and Recent Releases
Fans hoping to catch ‘Hive Mind’ live won’t have to wait long. Knocked Loose and Denzel Curry are slated to launch their 24-date co-headline ‘Hive Mind’ North American tour at the MegaCorp Pavilion in Newport, Kentucky, on September 26. The expansive run crosses the continent before culminating in Mexico City on November 8.
Meanwhile, Denzel Curry has been busy expanding his own catalog, having released his collaborative album ‘Strictly 4 The Scythe’ alongside Key Nyata and the broader Scythe collective in March. Reviewers have praised the project for its playful, chaotic energy and bold execution.
