ANKARA – CHP Chairman Özgür Özel met with his party’s deputies at the closed group meeting, where Ankara Deputy Murat Emir was appointed as the group deputy chairman. Özel, who came to the hall after the completion of the election and made an evaluation, expressed his satisfaction with the election success and expressed his gratitude to the MPs who believed in him.
Stating that they have to be successful in the general elections to be held in 2028 and that they have an important opportunity, Özel said that the election is over and that he wants it to continue in integrity in the next period.
Underlining that the MPs who did not stand by him in the pre-election period should not feel any anxiety, Özel said that what is really important is their performance and dedication from now on.

Özgür Özel also gave warnings to the MPs about the next process. Özel said that it would be difficult to move forward with MPs who act against the integrity of the party and do not work in harmony with the party management, and noted that he will take measures against those who disrupt the harmony within the party and, if necessary, initiate a disciplinary process.

Özgür Özel also emphasized the race in the group deputy chairman election. Stating that it is important to have a democratic race within the party, Özel also clearly stated that he was pleased with Murat Emir’s win. Özel underlined that, after the election success, steps should not be taken that will grow a destructive opposition within the party.
Özel also congratulated Sevda Erdan Kılıç, who was a candidate for the group vice president, for her civil courage. He expressed his gratitude by stating that he would like to see him as a candidate again, if not in this election, then in the group vice president election next year.
MERSİN MP WILL GO
Özgür Özel signaled an important change by referring to an event that upset him during the election process.
Alluding to Mersin Deputy Ufuk Çakır, who suddenly came to a Party Assembly meeting during the candidate selection process and insulted him, Özel said that he expected Çakır to resign and move to the SAADET group. Özel signaled that Ali Fazıl Kasap, who joined SAADET in order to prevent the SAADET group from falling, will also return to CHP.
