The Hague – PVV leader Geert Wilders calls on other parties in the formation to ‘jump over their shadows’. Since last weekend he has been willing to talk about military aid to Ukraine. “I hope that will be answered,” says Wilders prior to a new round of discussions with informant Kim Putters.

Putters will receive all party chairmen in the House of Representatives on Monday and Tuesday, with the exception of Denk. The informant wants ‘clarity’ from the faction leaders about different cabinet forms and how parties would like to relate to them. But a few themes are also being discussed to see whether ‘a fertile political basis’ can be created, according to Putters.

Wilders was the first to show up at the informant on Monday afternoon. He reiterated that the Netherlands ‘needs a cabinet quickly’. “We want to speed up. We have shown that before with the rule of law, and we now want to talk about support for Ukraine. I hope the other parties are just as quick, because so far we are the only ones making a move. It all takes far too long.”

The shape of a new cabinet does not seem to bother Wilders much. “We like to do business,” he says. “In whatever form.” In any case, it will not be a classic majority cabinet with the PVV: NSC leader Pieter Omtzigt previously put an end to that. Omtzigt prefers an extra-parliamentary cabinet. VVD leader Dilan Yesilgoz also wants to talk about such a cabinet, she said earlier. But what exactly this form of government entails is still unclear. Putters will discuss this with the party leaders.

On Monday he will speak with the leaders of the largest factions. Discussions with the smaller parties will follow on Tuesday.
