A woman who was chased by a bear while walking with her boyfriend was found dead. Authorities also consider that the woman may have died by falling in the valley.

A 31-year-old Belarusian woman went for a walk with her boyfriend in the Demänovská Valley, located in the north of the central region of Slovakia.
According to the boyfriend’s statement, the couple suddenly noticed a bear coming towards them. He and his girlfriend fled in different directions, according to testimony.
The woman’s body was found by a search dog that came to the area after the man’s call for help, in an area with steep valleys and dense trees.
Meanwhile, it was stated that the bear was still in the area, but the animal was scared away by warning shots made by the authorities.
It is not yet clear why the woman died. Authorities state that the woman may have died by falling, as well as being killed by the bear.
Researchers state that there are more than 1,200 bears left in Slovakia.
