WSL Expands Global Reach with New Broadcast & radio Deals
The Women’s Super League (WSL) is significantly expanding its international and domestic presence through a series of new media rights and radio coverage agreements. These strategic partnerships aim to capitalize on the league’s growing global popularity and deliver more access for fans worldwide.
IMG, a leading sports and entertainment agency, has been appointed as the WSL’s media rights distribution partner on a multi-year deal. They played a key role in securing these expanded broadcasting arrangements.
Reaching a Wider International Audience
The WSL is seeing considerable demand for its content outside of England. In fact, the 2024-25 campaign revealed that 76% of the total broadcast audience - a remarkable 72.1 million viewers - came from international coverage.
To further broaden access, any WSL matches not selected for broadcast by the league’s international partners will be streamed live on the WSL’s official YouTube channel. This ensures fans globally have a way to follow the action.
Enhanced Coverage in the UK
Domestically, the WSL has secured a significant three-year radio deal with TalkSport, a major player in UK sports broadcasting. This partnership will bring the excitement of the WSL directly to listeners across the country.Hear’s what you can expect from the TalkSport deal:
Live commentary for 16 games each season.
Comprehensive pre- and post-game analysis.
Dedicated league content,including interviews.
At least two interviews per season with representatives from every WSL club, featured on TalkSport’s popular drivetime and breakfast shows.
I’ve found that increased audio coverage is a fantastic way to build a deeper connection with fans, offering a different perspective on the game.
Looking Ahead
These new deals represent a major step forward for the WSL.By prioritizing accessibility and expanding its reach, the league is poised for continued growth and success. You can expect even more opportunities to engage with the WSL in the seasons to come.
