The passion for poisonous snakes brought the end of a young man from Drobeta-Turnu Severin. The 36-year-old man was found not breathing in his apartment, where he was raising seven vipers. Several wounds were discovered on his body.

The man risked his life every day. He illegally kept seven reptiles, including two vipers and a python, in several aquariums.

Gheorghe Cicoan – prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office attached to the Mehedinți Court: On the body of the victim, self-inflicted injuries produced with a cutting body and a needle prick, as well as small crusted points, punctures that can be both dermatological in origin, from insect bites or from reptile bites, were discovered.

The victim lived with his grandmother, who claims that in the past the man would have been bitten several times by the snakes he was raising. The same would have happened now.

Mixed teams of police, biologists and Environmental Guard specialists went to the young man’s home to pick up the reptiles. They will end up in the care of an NGO.

The lifeless body of the man was transported to the Forensic Medicine Service for the necropsy, and the exact cause of death will be established. In this case, a criminal case was opened for manslaughter.
