Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – YouTube launches new AI-powered “Jump Ahead” feature. This US video platform started testing this feature in March, and it is now available exclusively for YouTube Premium subscribers.

Jump Ahead allows viewers to ‘jump’ to the best part of a video by combining user data and AI to predict what they want to see.

So, users no longer need to watch the full video. This makes it easier when users are lazy about watching long videos and just want to know the gist of the content. However, on the other hand, this will encourage habits in modern society that find it difficult to focus on enjoying content fully.

This feature was previously only available to select Premium users in the US, but all YouTube Premium members can now try it out youtube.com/new.

For now, this feature only works on the YouTube Android application and is only available for English-language videos, as quoted from AndroidAuthority, Tuesday (7/5/2024).

Since this is an experimental feature, YouTube states that it is only available to try until June 1st. After that deadline, YouTube will consider officially launching it as part of a Premium subscription, or continuing the trial.

So, how do you use Jump Ahead on YouTube?

If you want to try out this feature, you’ll see a “Jump Ahead” button when you double-tap to skip to an eligible video.

Clicking the button will take viewers to a place most viewers would normally skip. YouTube notes that all videos do not yet support this feature.
