In the Lok Sabha elections, Kerala is making its verdict with enthusiasm. In all 20 constituencies, voters have been pouring into the polling booths since morning. Long queues are visible at most of the booths from 7 am onwards. 50 percent polling was recorded in eight hours. In some places, the voting machine went on strike. Voting has been started by delivering the new one. Most of the candidates have already arrived to cast their votes in the morning. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Leader of Opposition VD Satheesan, LDF Convenor EP Jayarajan and others reached the polling booth early in the morning and cast their votes.

A mock poll was held at 6 am in the presence of party representatives. Voting started exactly at seven o’clock. 2,77,49,159 voters are casting their verdict. 194 candidates are contesting in 20 constituencies. Voting will continue till 6 pm. Webcasting system has been installed in the affected booths. 66,303 security personnel have been deployed for polling. 30,238 – Voting Machines, 30,238 – Ballot Units, 30,238 – Control Units and 32,698 – VV Pats are arranged for polling.

The second phase of polling is being held in 88 Lok Sabha constituencies of the country. Kerala 20, Karnataka 14, Rajasthan 13, Maharashtra 8, Uttar Pradesh 8, Madhya Pradesh 7, Assam 5, Bihar 5, Chhattisgarh 3, West Bengal 3, Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir (one seat each). The first phase of the seven-phase voting was completed on 19th of this month. 102 seats in 21 states were decided on that day. The polling was 65.5 percent. The third phase of voting is on May 7. 94 seats in 12 states will be decided on that day.
