Mae Sot Grapples with Second major Flood This Month
Residents of Mae Sot district in Tak province are once again facing the challenges of widespread flooding. The Moei River, swollen by relentless rainfall, overflowed its banks on Wednesday, inundating riverside communities and, regrettably, Rim Moei market for a second time in july.

At 10:00 AM local time, floodwaters surged into several villages within tambon Tha Sai Luat. The river level climbed over two meters above its normal course, creating a meaningful threat to homes and businesses.
Rim Moei market, recently cleaned after the July 24-25 inundation, has been submerged again, causing considerable disruption and damage to local commerce. You can imagine the frustration for buisness owners trying to recover.
Cause of the Flooding
Persistent heavy rains in upstream areas, especially in Phop Phra district, are the primary cause of this latest flooding event. A large volume of runoff quickly filled the Moei River, leading to the rapid rise in water levels.
More than 200 households along both sides of the river and in low-lying areas are currently impacted. many families have been forced to evacuate their homes to seek safety.
