railway Disruptions
Railway traffic on the bucharest Regional Railway, specifically on the 300 line between Crivina and Brazi stations, is considerably disrupted due to fallen trees across the overhead contact lines. The disruptions began at approximately 02:11 EET. https://www.cfrcalatori.ro/ro/comunicate/comunicat-de-presa-20240313-incident-magistrala-300/
Initially, a loss of power occurred on track I due to a tree falling on the lines at kilometer 44+500. Subsequently, at 03:15 EET, the power outage extended to track II as another tree fell, damaging both lines. CFR S.A. (Romanian National Railway Company) reports that the fallen trees caused broken supports on both tracks.
To ensure safe intervention, power was cut to sections of track I between Brazi and Ploiești Vest,as well as lines within the Brazi and Ploiești Vest stations, starting at 04:00 EET.
CFR S.A. teams are currently working to remove the trees, replace damaged components, and inspect the infrastructure to restore normal and safe railway traffic. Trains arriving at or departing from Bucharest North Station (Gara de Nord) are experiencing delays of several minutes.
