The Rolling Stones’ ‘Foreign Tongues’ Wins Billboard’s New Music Poll

<>

The Rolling Stones have secured the top spot in this week’s listener poll, as fans overwhelmingly chose their latest studio album, Foreign Tongues, as the standout release of the week. This latest project, their 25th full-length studio release, outperformed recent releases from artists including YEONJUN, Beyoncé, and Feid.

The album features a 14-track collection that includes 12 original compositions alongside two covers: the band’s interpretation of Amy Winehouse’s “You Know I’m No Good” and their take on Chuck Berry’s “Beautiful Delilah.” Recorded at Metropolis Studios in West London, the project was produced by Andrew Watt, known for his work on the band’s 2023 release, Hackney Diamonds.

The recording sessions for Foreign Tongues featured an expansive list of guest contributors. The project includes appearances by Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, The Cure’s Robert Smith, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. Longtime band collaborators Darryl Jones, Matt Clifford, and Steve Jordan also participated in the sessions. A notable addition to the album is the track “Hit Me in the Head,” which features drum recordings from the late Charlie Watts, captured during one of his final studio sessions before his death in 2021.

Mick Jagger described the recording environment as a high-energy experience. “It was a very intense few weeks recording Foreign Tongues,” Jagger said in a statement released following the album’s debut. “We had 14 great tracks and we went as fast as we could. I like the room there as it’s not too big so you can feel the passion from everyone.” Guitarist Ronnie Wood noted the efficiency of the sessions, adding that the band was “on top form throughout the whole process” and frequently achieved the desired results in a single take.

How the Poll Results Compare

The fan-voted poll highlights the competitive landscape of recent music releases. While Foreign Tongues led with 42% of the vote, other projects saw significant support from listeners.
