The intense meteorological event developed during an afternoon storm cycle that triggered weather alerts across multiple districts in Albacete. According to data from the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) and the Suremet network cited by ABC, the front began organizing around 15:30 hours from isolated storm cells before sweeping across the mountain ranges of the province.
Footage shared by the monitoring account MeteoHellín documented heavy accumulations of ice that left rural routes in areas such as Pedro Andrés and Dehesa de Nerpio resembling a winter landscape. Alongside the visual impact on roadways, the heavy precipitation generated strong runoff streams through the streets of Nerpio as temperatures plunged dramatically within a brief span.
Emergency Activation and Regional Weather Warnings
In response to the developing storm system, the regional government of Castilla-La Mancha initiated emergency protocols through its Department of Hacienda, Administraciones Públicas y Transformación Digital.
