A heavy goods vehicle hits a motorcyclist

The motorcycle taxi driver was killed instantly after finding himself under the heavy goods vehicle.

The asphalt was covered in blood yesterday in Amborompotsy Talatamaty. Crushed under a semi-trailer truck, a motorcyclist was killed instantly. The accident occurred in the evening around 9 p.m. According to information collected on site, the heavy goods vehicle was taking National Road number 4 heading west when the worst happened. According to eyewitnesses, the two-wheeler was spinning on the road before ending up under the truck. The driver of the motorcycle died after his head found itself under one of the wheels of the semi-trailer.

As soon as the accident occurred, the driver of the heavy goods vehicle immediately alerted the territorial brigade of the National Gendarmerie in Talatamaty. The barracks being nearby, the truck driver was instructed to go immediately to the gendarmes’ office in order to avoid any risk of popular vindictiveness.

Significant damage

In a flash, permanent elements of the brigade rushed to the scene of the tragedy. During the investigation, bottles of rum and beer which had not yet been completely consumed were found in the motorcycle. The deceased was subsequently taken to the morgue of the Joseph Ravoahangy Andrianavalona Hospital. By carrying out his identification, investigators established that the deceased individual was a motorcycle taxi driver. He didn’t live nearby. Until yesterday, his family members had not yet given any sign of life. For their part, investigations are in full swing and the gendarmerie is collecting as many clues and information as possible to shed light on the circumstances of the accident.

For his part, the truck driver has already been interviewed. Significant material damage was noted on the two-wheeler, reduced to an inextricable pile of scrap metal.
