Today, Wednesday, a parliamentary delegation of senators visited the Maamoura Hospital for Psychiatry and Addiction Treatment in Alexandria, affiliated with the Ministry of Health, to follow up on the level of health services provided to patients.

Dr. Muhammad Othman Zuhdi, Director of Al-Maamoura Psychiatric Hospital, received the parliamentary delegation that included Representative Ihab Abu Kalila, Representative Dina Al-Hilali, and members of the Senate, and they met with a group of those recovering at the hospital who expressed their gratitude for the support provided to them during their treatment and recovery journey.

The delegation inspected the internal departments of the hospital and the addiction treatment center, which includes the detoxification department and the psychological rehabilitation department, as well as the harm reduction unit, in addition to the hospital’s meeting room.

The hospital director said that the services extend to include the governorates neighboring Alexandria, such as Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Matrouh, pointing out that the hospital provides follow-up and rehabilitation services for those recovering from addiction on a regular basis.

For his part, Representative Ihab Abu Kalila appreciated the services provided to patients and recovering patients at the hospital. He also praised the work system, the quality of the services provided, and the keenness of the employees to provide all the attention and care to patients, stressing his full support for the initiatives and programs provided by the hospital that are concerned with mental health and providing means of treatment and recovery from addiction.

The parliamentary delegation praised the hospital’s role in treating addiction, especially among young people, and providing all aspects of support to those recovering in accordance with the strategic plan for treating addiction, which the Egyptian state attaches great importance to, in addition to the rehabilitation of adult psychiatric patients and their integration back into society, which contributes to improving the quality of life of citizens.

This came in the presence of Dr. Abdullah Essam, Head of the Addiction Treatment Department at Al-Maamoura Psychiatric Hospital, Shaima Muhammad, a social worker in the Addiction Treatment Department, Yousri Rashad, Assistant at Al-Maamoura Hospital, and Yasmine Jamal, Director of the Public Relations Department.
