In the Budatín district of Žilina, a state of emergency has been declared due to a landslide and subsequent damage to the road on Ku zvonici street. Zuzana Ondrášová from the communications department of the Municipal Office (MsÚ) in Žilina informed about this after Thursday’s meeting of the crisis team.

Under the road, providing access to family houses, there are engineering networks of the gas pipeline and water supply. “Based on the assessment and inspection of the site, there is an assumption of the extension of the landslide and the risk of slope deformation with a possible threat to life, health, property and the environment.” said Ondrášová.

The head of the department of crisis management and security of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Žilina Lukáš Čerňava informed that the road manager will carry out the necessary scope of construction and technical measures to eliminate the risk of further landslides. “At the same time, we ask the residents in this location to minimize the discharge of water onto the road and to monitor the basement parts of their homes.” Čerňav called.

He added that the Žilina City Hall regularly monitors the situation and will inform the public about further facts.
