Abhishek Banerjee Launches Aggressive Campaign, Accuses BJP of Voter Suppression in West Bengal
Baruipur, South 24 Parganas – Trinamool Congress (TMC) national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee ignited a fiery campaign rally in Baruipur on Friday, signaling a resolute push for teh 2026 West Bengal assembly elections. The rally marked the launch of a month-long campaign, boldly titled “Jotoi Koro Hamla, Abar Jitbe Bangla” – “No matter how much you attack, Bengal will win again.”

He further asserted his confidence in the TMC’s performance, predicting an increase in both vote share and seat count compared to the 2021 elections. He urged TMC candidates in South 24 Parganas to secure victory margins exceeding 50,000 votes.
BJP Responds: accusations of Desperation and Political Tourism
The BJP swiftly responded to Banerjee’s accusations, dismissing them as a sign of desperation. State BJP President Samik Bhattacharya argued that the TMC’s aggressive stance stemmed from an anticipated defeat in the upcoming elections.
“mamata Banerjee understands the ground reality very well,” Bhattacharya stated. “She knows what’s coming. The ouster of TMC is inevitable.”
He also criticized the TMC’s handling of the SIR process, pointing out that similar revisions are underway in 12 states without the same level of disruption.
