Acceleration of AIDS screening among young people

A race against time begins. The Malagasy State, through the Ministry of Public Health, is intensifying its efforts in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS (Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome). Young university students from Antananarivo had the opportunity to benefit from free screening last Tuesday on Esplanade Ankatso. An increasing trend has been observed recently in the number of people tested positive for HIV. The Minister of Public Health, Professor Zely Arivelo Randriamanantany, stressed that young people represent the future of the country in terms of development, and that it is therefore imperative to protect them against this scourge.

Fifty thousand young university students are targeted in this campaign to fight HIV/AIDS. A range of activities have been put in place for them, including awareness sessions, information sessions and free testing for Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs). It is well known that screening remains the most reliable way to ensure peace of mind regarding your state of health. One student, Alain Razafindramboa, chose to take the test to allay any concerns about his condition. He shared that he may have contracted the disease without realizing it. “I am young and I have sexual needs, so it is better to go through screening, especially when it is offered free of charge,” emphasized the student. Students at Ankatso University turned out en masse to be tested for HIV/AIDS last Tuesday, demonstrating their commitment to their health despite the uncertainty of the results.

There are many steps you can take to combat the spread of HIV. Among them, it is essential to prioritize fidelity in couple relationships. The systematic use of condoms is also an effective preventive measure. In addition, it is crucial to ensure access to treatment and care for infected people. It should be noted that these treatments are completely free.
