The Hague – Informer Ronald Plasterk will also hold talks with PVV, VVD and BBB on Monday before presenting his report to the House of Representatives, now that NSC has left the formation table. Despite the departure of formation partner Pieter Omtzigt, VVD leader Dilan Yesilgöz remains ‘optimistic’ about the formation process, she says. “That will have to be the case. This country needs government.”

The forming parties met again on Friday at the informant Plasterk, who will draw his conclusions on Monday afternoon and present his report to the House of Representatives. Shortly before that, Plasterk will call the party leaders together again. “We had a good conversation. We will continue after the weekend, on Monday,” explains PVV leader Geert Wilders. Work may also continue into the weekend. “We are really looking at: how can we move forward as quickly as possible?” said VVD leader Yesilgöz. “Ultimately, this country needs us to be busy solving problems.” As announced, Pieter Omtzigt from NSC was also missing on Friday. “For me it always makes sense to continue talking,” says BBB’er Caroline van der Plas.

To the surprise of the other negotiators, Omtzigt declared on Tuesday that he had finished the talks and has not been seen in The Hague since. Relations between the four party leaders have not improved. Omtzigt was also annoyed by the attitude of the informant, who allegedly provided information too late. Plasterk, in turn, lacks respect for the “informateur institute” from the NSC leader.
